What would be the average price for a handy man to prep and paint my whole living room?

I have a few cracks on my living room ceiling and walls and would like to have it redone. What is the average price they will charge me to get it done? Some of the area's need to be re-patched and sanded..What would be the average price for a handy man to prep and paint my whole living room?
I just painted my dining room. No repairs needed, just paint. When I asked my handy man how much he would have charged to do the job, he said $600 - $800 dollars. I imagine with some repairs needed you will have to spend at least $1000. But then again, maybe handy men are less expensive where you live...What would be the average price for a handy man to prep and paint my whole living room?
I do handyman work for several people in my neighborhood. At times, I think I am too cheap. I charge $20 per hour. Not knowing the size of LR and other details, it is hard to do an estimate. I would guesstimate (at my hourly rate) somewhere in the $300-$500 range.





If you are at all handy it might be worthwhile to DIY.
