What is a fair price to paint....?

I've already been screwed but what should be a fair price for a body shop to paint a steel Suzuki wheel (in good shape) that is already finely sandblasted and ready to paint? What is a fair price to paint....?
Seems like it should be $25.00 to most people but what you fail to calculate in is the time and labor it takes to set everything up and then clean up just to spray a wheel that takes 3 minutes! I would say if the guy charged you under two hundred dollars-consider it a bargin! The materials are not cheap either especially if he used Imron paint! What is a fair price to paint....?
check into powder or ';hot'; coating

wait ur asking for 1 rim to be painted? well first why are you painting it because if ur chroming the wheel that would be at least $200.00 but if you are painting it black or something like that that would be a total of $75.00 before your getting ripped off and that not a clue guy dont listen to him no ones gunna paint a wheel for only $25.00
Call car talk
Depends on where. In California and some other places, there are very tight restrictions on paint fumes which forces them to use special paint which is much more expensive.

After that, it's the cost of the prep.

After that, it's the cost of the paint.

And there's a fixed cost to MIXING paint. It doesn't come in a jar in your color, it's gotta be matched and custom blended for you. That job is the same whether it's 1 wheel or the whole car. I had to get a fuel door on a 1-year-old car painted, they charged me what seemed like a lot, but now I know it was a steal. It was a dealer, so maybe they happened to be repainting a car of the exact same color.

The other thing is the hassle of doing 1 small part. What if the customer is dissatisfied and you have to deal with this @#$!? That's built into the price too.

Now, some shops don't like working with somebody else's prep job. Not an issue for you, but you know the rube who's had his car in primer for a year? No shop will want to do that job, age and weather has ruined that primer. It'll make their good finish coat fail in a year or two, and who'll get blamed?
