Well, seeing as the legal velocity limit is 300 fps, theoretically all paintballs travelling at that speed will reach the same distance. The furthest a paintball will travel at the legal limit is 120-130 ft, although the furthest it'll travel in a straight line parallel to the ground is about 100 ft or less.
Increasing the velocity past the legal limit is a bad idea for several reasons, the least of which being obvious. Higher velocities can ruin the accuracy of the paint and can result in breaks inside the gun and/or barrel. A gelatinous ball filled with colored goo is hardly aerodynamic.
The Flatline barrel made for Tippmanns advertises the ability to increase the distance the ball travels by creating a spin on the ball (accomplished by the barrel itself curving upward %26amp; forward again near the middle). But in reality, it only adds maybe 10 ft max on the distance travelled and the ball is still losing speed at that point, resulting in less chance of breakage on your target.
Anyhoo, a Tippmann A-5 is a good choice. Built tough, reliable %26amp; simple. What is a good priced paint ball gun that dosent suck and that can travel more than 189 feet. ?
Tippman 98 custom with flatline barrel and ar car stock. damn nice and accurate
