Acrylic is probably cheaper than most stuff...
Watercolors are very cheap if you buy the little pallet kind that kids use....
Oils are about $3.00 - $14.00 (big tube)Paint prices?
Hint: Stay away from paints that say '; Hue'; after them. It is an industry term that basically means artificial colors. They will be the cheap paints on the shelf!
For example Cadmium Red Hue means that there is no cadmium in it but it is an artificial color using other minerals or chemicals to get a similar color. Eventually they will start to turn back to their original coloring.
Good for practice, but otherwise not.
Like everything else, you get what you pay for!
the least expensive paints you will find in at your local hardware store . the most expensive %26amp; the most vibrant colors in acrylic are Novacolor . tp.
Michaels, or Aaron Brothers
It depends on the type of paint you're buying. For acrylic paints, it's about $2-3 for a toothpaste sized tube. You can purchase paints at most bookshops, as well as hardware stores such as Bunnings, budget department stores such as K-Mart and Target, and fabric/craft stores such as spotlight.
Most paint's will run you probably in the two to four dollar range for three ounces. Accept for reds and browns, the pigments used in them jack the prices up to the five to ten range.
If you live in the sticks you will probably have a hard time finding them in a store unless you have a Wal Mart close by. Other than that you can order them through Dick Blick.
If you live in a city you can get them at virtually any art supply or craft stores.
